Rogue Protocol by Martha Wells (2018)

More of the best

Book cover blurb

WHO KNEW BEING A HEARTLESS KILLING MACHINE WOULD PRESENT SO MANY MORAL DILEMMAS?

SciFi’s favourite antisocial A.I. is back on a mission. The case against the too-big-to-fail GrayCris Corporation is floundering, and more importantly, authorities are beginning to ask more questions about where Dr. Mensah’s SecUnit is.

And Murderbot would rather those questions went away. For good.

My Review

'Rogue Protocol' reconnects with the first instalment, 'All Systems Red' which is a good thing. Although the story and flow are very similar to that book, which isn't such a good thing, but it is still utterly enjoyable.

But that is a very minor gripe and something I don't really care about. I'd be happy to read a book about MurderBot going grocery shopping to be honest, come to think of it, I would actually like to read that situation. I just love this character and his/her interactions with others, or rather his/her attempted avoidance of interactions with others.

MurderBot's irritations from interacting with a rather naive robot were joyfully relate-able. And watching him/her play the reluctant hero again is so what we want to read.

This book will leave you itching to read the next instalment since we are left knowing just what MurderBot is planning to do next. It's going to be a very rough road for him/her and a fantastic read for us. How on earth can Martha wrap this all up?

No, this book isn't my favourite so far. Yes, of course, I still gave it five stars. Yes, I probably am becoming just a little biased.
