I know these 2000AD novels aren’t what you would call mainstream reads for book lovers, since their origins were established in comics, but I love this world. So I’m indulging myself.

This is a great read that I was disappointed with. Let me explain.
Wayward by Blake Crouch (2013)
Compared to Pines, the first book in the trilogy, this second offering, Wayward, is a very different experience, but I guess it had to be really.

Great book but I think Crouch just tries too hard and ends up over-egging his own pudding. Let me explain…
Recursion by Blake Crouch (2019)
My first experience with Blake Crouch was Dark Matter, and I loved it, for the most part. As soon as I finished that book I pre-ordered Recursion hoping for more of the same. But to begin with I was actually a little disappointed.

What a ride!
A fast-paced, thought-provoking nail-biter of a book. Everything flows along at an exquisitely brutal pace. But I love that, just when things are slowing down and letting the reader relax and catch their breath, Crouch slaps you right across the face…
